Haven, because that’s the name of the program, is currently available in beta for Android smartphones. It operates under an Open Source license, and its creators are the Guardian Project organizations together with the Freedom of the Press Foundation and Edward Snowden.

Haven’s operation is as follows. If we have a device with sensitive data, we put a smartphone next to it with the application installed. This one uses the device’s sensors, its cameras, microphones, and even the accelerometer to analyze the environment. If it notices any change – it immediately notifies us with a message that the data may be at risk.

Help victims of domestic violence

Another way to use the application is to help victims of domestic violence. Thanks to it, they can check whether they are being followed by their tormentors, emphasize the creators. However, the application has its problems, as befits the beta version.

One reviewer described it as being very sensitive to its surroundings. It received 80 alarms that were triggered by the sounds of car sirens and noise from the street.
