We daily deal with the English language. Even at international level we need to communicate with the help of English. English is a language that is not difficult to learn. Many of us do not know the easiest formula to get the writing skills professionally, especially descriptive writing.

What is descriptive writing?

What is descriptive writing? In fact, the purpose of descriptive writing is to communicate and explain the atmosphere or objective in detail so that the reader can feel the conditions as stated in the descriptive writing. The reader becomes able to understand the core objectives of writings. The document can have full impacts on readers if it is written in proper English.

What is descriptive Writing Formula?

Speaking of descriptive writing formulas in English, what we need to know is 5W + 1H, which are What, Who, When, Where, Why, and How.

When (when)

Many are mistaken about the meaning of the word ‘when’ in descriptive writing. This word needs to be understood critically that ‘when’ is not just about days and dates, but it can also be about times and seasons.

What (What)

In descriptive writing, the function of the word ‘what’ is to explain what is happening. Not only what was happening but also what could be the details in the incident. What is stated under a particular situation?

How (How)

Now let’s see regarding, ‘How’, more directs us to an explanation of the process that contains about how it can happen.

In addition, the function of the meaning of this word can also be an explanatory element for each description so that the sentence has more descriptive writing flow.

Who (Who)

This word serves to describe the perpetrators or victims in an event, story, or phenomenon that is to be outlined in the descriptive writing.

It’s just that it needs to be known together that the description of the perpetrator or victim in the descriptive writing must be written clearly so that the reader knows the characteristics of the perpetrator or the victim.

Where (where)

Every individual who communicates with verbal language, must know what the word ‘where’ means. All will agree that the meaning of the word ‘where’ leads us to a place or location.

In descriptive English writing, direction of a location or place can also be described with detailed explanations of these places.

Why (Why)

This is one form of words that directs us to a thing that criticizes the orientation of the details of the story with each of its elements. Each of these elements is explained systematically and ‘why’ that can happen. Why is there something special? Why do we need to know a particular element or event?

These typical elements would help us reading and writing with perfection. We can communicate our purpose with 99%+ accuracy if we learn to use these terms.
