In fact, the teaching of English is already compulsory from the lower classes.

The proposal of the MEC (Ministry of Education and Culture) through the different educational programs is to promote the educational process very easy. In addition, the socio-interactional method approached by different colleges and universities in Pakistan in relation to foreign language teaching conveys the reality of making the instructional process more dynamic and meaningful.

However, the positive suggestion of promoting a foreign language is not often the one adopted at school by the language teacher. The foreign language is taught in effective way, at university level.

The market is increasingly demanding well-educated individuals who have complete command over their professions. Similarly, the communication skill especially English language hurdle should not come in way.

And since English is present everywhere: on TV, gift wrapping, candy wrapping, books, on the streets, why wouldn’t you be in such a college that can make you perfect in English? Thus, the teaching of the second language is present in many institutions for example in the nursery, and in others level.

A teacher must conduct interesting sessions for students:

There is a very interesting activity to do in the classroom so that students can memorize new words they have learned in a particular lesson!

It’s very simple:

1. Writing words:

Write the words on poster board so that students can see from the board. Cut out and iron contact paper or wrap the strips in plastic so that it may give smooth look.

2. Brush Color

Roll the same color brush over the letters to make it stand out. It is interesting that the cardboard is also in one-color so that the pupils may become able to identify the words at the time of activity.

3. Divide the whole class in groups:

Divide the class into groups or between boys and girls. Put them one after the other and pass or keep a scratch on the floor that will demarcate the position of the first in line.

4. Fixing the words:

Fix the words on the board and the average height of the students.

Draw the words on the board. Alternatively, write the terms on pieces of paper and place in a plastic bag for the draw. The word drawn should be said aloud so that the first of the two rows understand what has been said and can identify it on the board. The group that indicates exactly the word on the board spoken by the teacher, will be declared the winner.

Here’s an example: The teacher says “hammer”, so the first in line should identify the written form of this sound on the board. The student who hits his hand on the correct spelling wins the point!

Oral activity for the students:

This activity is great for working orally and identifying the sound and writing of new words!

There is a very practical way to emphasize sports in English! Most schools have indoor games at some time of the year.

For the teacher who does not follow a handout, the ideal is to teach this content at this time when the subject at school is not in the competition between classrooms! The teams are formed, the colors chosen, the school environment is filled with the climate of sports practices. Every activity is conducted to develop the creative thinking among the students.

However, even if the educator has to follow the sequence of the book as defined by the board, he may at some point try to realize the dynamics! A good teacher always tries to cover the supposed syllabus as well as creates something extra.

Divide the groups as per the ranks:

The teacher should divide the room into groups: boys against girls or ranks against ranks. This last division is preferred if you want to cause less turmoil in the room.

Then the educator must write the names of the sports the class learned in activities and draw them out. A student, who is representative of the group, goes to the front of the room, the teacher whispers the word and he must imitate someone practicing the sport drawn. If this student’s team does not get it right, the next one has the opportunity, but if it does not get it right, move on to the next group until one finds and correctly pronounces the name of the sport.

Sports activities for the educational growth:

Now teachers and students can enjoy the school’s indoor games to understand and convey the English tutorials with ease and perfection.

It is important that the teacher recap the whole lesson with class through conversations. It is very essential for us to get full grip over the modern foreign language class of high school.

We should not say that we do not know, and for this reason there is a suggestion for language teachers. Teachers must encourage the students to take part in difficult tasks. Students must not feel shy when there is something difficult.

Nothing against the traditional method as it is good, but does not work systematically in some colleges and universities. Chalkboard, chalk, grammar can help if the class learns better this way, which is not an ordinary fact!

And unfortunately, there are still some private colleges and universities that require such a methodology to be adopted! And even more shocking, students are so used to these types of classes that if the teacher decides to adopt another method, he is confronted! Once again the best method is to understand the level of students as well.

However, most young people want to have a more practical contact with English: knowing what is written on the shirt, the video game, the computer instructions, the most used expressions in the movies, the lyrics! And why not should  we take advantage of this to teach? The teachers can explain the lessons with the help of these examples. Students learn any lesson with better pace if the tutor uses some visual effects as well in the classroom.

We need to listen the student first

Meet the class: What kind of music do students like best, what kind of subject would they like to discuss? Use images, make dynamics, but don’t just be in it. Talk to them in easy way about the subject which is under discussion at any stage. If you come to know what do the students want and why then being a teacher, you can produce the real quality results.

Bring lessons with current and diverse themes for example an interview, a lyric, a poem, a game instruction, etc. If you have computers available, choose an English site and work on it. In Pakistan the problem of language is big. The concepts can be developed only if we understand the real meanings for a particular subject.

Read aloud and slowly so that students understand better. Then ask some to read it voluntarily. Then allow time for them to read quietly and underline in different colors what they agree and disagree with the arguments presented in the text!

Do you agree with the author?

Such questions make the students smart in critical learning. The process of growth starts when we start thinking about different patterns. Judging the author work for students is very important because in this way the best version will come out.

First of all, students will read thoroughly the work of author. It is another important objective for the author that readers must read and complete the book. That’s why asking students to give their opinion towards the author’s findings is really remarkable thing. Some students will not agree with the author’s views. It means they will have better or at least alternative approaches in their minds. And in this way it will be possible for a teacher to see which student has shown great performance? The one with outstanding result must be given extra attention. Because a rising start in any school or college is a leader of tomorrow.

Students are supposed to create new versions:

After this step, it is time to let students point out the most commonly used ideas seen in the documentary or the lessons. They will interpret the lessons in their own ways. A book has one version for any concept or theory. Suppose there is a class of 40 students. If all students interpret a same theme in their own ways then it means, there will be 40 new versions for same concept.

Let’s change it a bit for example, a book author presented a solution towards any problem. So, you will have one solution in hand. What if every student participates in such activities and come up with unique ideas? All 40 solutions which come from students can be compiled into one master solution file.

Insist student to bring new ideas

What impacts it will have? You can say it will develop a problem solving attitude in the students. Identifying and discussing is very easy. But finding solutions is the crux of anything. Its real art and its best thing to do in life. A teacher must develop these qualities if they want to develop the quality level.

Although we know that education is a fundamental and social right and should be guaranteed by the state, there is a societal concern about the quality of education. And there cannot be a big compromise over this point.

We note that education has not only the purpose of technical training for people, but education must be an instrument of inclusion, of possibility of improvement in the quality of life of the individual and consequently of an entire nation.

The role of education should be to educate citizens in their entirety and to provide subsidies for them to build really meaningful knowledge that will enable them to know and guarantee their rights.

A contemporary society

In the contemporary society we live in today and in this new moment of globalization, we are going through a moment of deep and rapid economic, social, cultural and technological transformations. Information circulates so quickly that it becomes superficial, and this is where quality education makes a big difference.

Education is essential for organization and especially social inclusion. Theoretically, it is through education that the individual will become more tolerant and aware of his own actions toward others.

We are a people made up of countless physical, economic and social differences and it is for these differences that education is so important, because it is through it that we will find the balance for the inclusion of all in all areas and especially in social relations.

The manifestations of these different social relations need to be understood as a way to bring about change in search of a fairer society.

So one way to ensure access to quality education is also to ensure that everyone is aware of fundamental and social rights. One solution to this would be the implementation of constitutional law as a subject of study in basic education.

Getting the rights is something really important being a citizen but who will tell that what kind of rights we are supposed to enjoy.
